Designed as a companion piece to the client's newly assumed coat of arms, this ex libris translates the principal heraldic charges into a self-contained pictorial composition. While remaining faithful to the symbolism of the armorial bearings, the illustration allows these elements to interact naturally within a landscape, creating a scene that extends beyond the formal language of heraldry.

The composition is built around a solitary Silver Fir rising from a three-peaked mountain, establishing a strong vertical axis that anchors the entire image. A radiant sun illuminates the landscape from the upper left, while a Japanese crane crosses the sky in flight, introducing movement and balance. Beneath the mountain, a scroll bearing the Greek motto Καὶ νόον ἔγνων ("And I came to know the mind") forms both the visual and symbolic foundation of the composition.

Derived from the client's coat of arms, the ex libris reinterprets its heraldic elements within a unified landscape while remaining faithful to their symbolic meaning. The resulting image serves not only as a mark of ownership, but also as a personal meditation on identity, vocation, and learning.

The artwork was entirely hand drawn on paper using black pigment liners in an engraving-inspired style before being digitally scanned for reproduction. Two versions were produced: a monochrome edition that recalls the appearance of traditional printed bookplates, and a hand-coloured version employing a restrained palette.

Created as part of a broader personal identity project, the ex libris accompanies the client's coat of arms alongside a heraldic seal and other commissioned works, forming a coherent visual language that unites heraldic tradition with the timeless practice of marking and preserving one's books.
